Visit in Cyprus of Mr. Nobuyuki Koga, President of the Japanese organization of the EU-Japan Fest

On June 30, 2017, Japan's Ambassador to Greece Mr. Masuo Nishibayashi visited Cyprus on the occasion of the ceremonial meeting of Mr. Nobuyuki Koga, Chairman of the Nomura Holdings Group of Companies, President of Japan's EU-Japan Fest and Vice President of the Promotion Committee of the Osaka International Exhibition 2025 with Mr. Haris Georgiadis, Minister of Finance of Cyprus. The following discussion focused on EU-Japan Fest's cooperation with Paphos "European Capital of Culture 2017", the participation of Japanese cultural organizations in the events but also the Cypriot economy and the opportunities for Japan-Cyprus cooperation at the Osaka International Exhibition 2025.
Ambassador Nishibayashi and Mr. Koga also visited the House of Cooperation, a non-governmental organization located in the Green Line of Cyprus, and supports the intercultural dialogue between Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots, based on close cooperation with citizens.
They were briefly briefed on the importance of the international cultural dialogue and the influence it exerts on the two communities of the island as well as on other issues such as the visit of the NGO executives to Japan and the collaboration of local artists with Japanese artists, supported by the EU- Japan Fest Japan Committee.

On the same day, a concert of the internationally renowned Japanese YAMATO drummers took place in the central square of Paphos with the cooperation of the EU-Japan Fest Japan Committee and the Organizing Committee Paphos: European Capital of Culture 2017.
The event was filled with people (around 2,500 people) of all ages. Mr. Nobuyuki Koga, President of the EU-Japan Fest Japan Committee, Mr. Shūji Kogi, Secretary General, and Mr. Christos Patsalidis Chairman of the Board of Directors of Paphos 2017 addressed the launch of the event.
